How to Calculate a Tip
To calculate a tip manually:
- Determine the bill amount before tax.
- Multiply by the tip percentage as a decimal (e.g., 18% = 0.18).
- Add the tip to the bill to get the total.
- Divide the total by the number of people to get the per-person amount.
Example: $50 bill × 0.18 = $9 tip → $59 total ÷ 2 people = $29.50 each
